Our Global Platform team fuels all of the DataRobot services allowing it to run, seamlessly scale and tolerate outages across 3 major clouds as well as bringing cloud-native experience to on-premise customers. We are building a multi-tenanted Kubernetes environment for all DataRobot ground up using cutting edge cloud native technologies and approaches - fully declarative deployment, advanced policy engines, zero trust security and comprehensive auto scaling and best in class observability with distributed tracing to name a few.
As our SaaS product is growing, we are looking for an Engineering Manager to help us building a irst class observability solution for our distributed infrastructure as well as helping us defining observability for Machine Learning models. We believe observability is at the core of any distributed architecture and thus we want to build a world class observability pipeline to run all DataRobot services. But we also believe that Machine Learning domain can benefit and learn from software engineering approaches to Observability and we want to redefine what it means to have Machine Learning Observability.
We are bootstrapping a new team which has two goals. One goal is to lead the adoption of open standards based observability at DataRobot providing services with native observability integrations and turn key best practices for all our internal teams. Another goal is to pioneer the observability for Machine Learning and help us defining what it means, drive ideas and implementation work to mature Machine Learning observability as a new domain for the whole industry.
What does it take?Lead the team delivering core part of the Observability pipeline for DataRobot
Own the roadmap, backlog and help driving the team work
Own technical design of the new components and be a tie breaker
Drive adoption of observability in the company
Partner with MLOps at DataRobot to work on Machine Learning observability
Coach, inspire and develop engineers on the team
You have 5+ years of proven experience managing high performing engineering teams
You have built and maintained large scale observability pipelines based on OpenTelemetry, StasD or other similar tech
You understand the challenges of observability at scale and can reason and wish to dig into problems like dealing with cardinality explosion, observability at-edge and smart sampling
You have strong Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis.
You have an understanding of design for scalability, performance, and reliability.
You are self-motivated and proactive, able to take ownership and deliver results.
You have excellent communication skills and can connect with both technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
You are not afraid of new ideas and are excited to experiment on new things
OpenTelemetry realated experience
Experience building multi-tenant platforms
Experience delivering software to both SaaS and on-premise environments.
Desire to mentor software engineers in all aspects of their engineering skill-sets.
