What does it take?

  • Manage global transaction tax compliance process.

  • Assist in Avalara system implementations and upgrades.

  • Analyze sales and use tax activity for reasonableness; prepare related month-end journal entries.

  • Assist in responding to tax audit IDR requests.

  • Point of contact for business partner inquiries from Sales and AR/AP departments.

  • Provide training to other departments on indirect tax matters.

  • Conduct tax research as necessary to respond to tax business partner, customer, or audit inquiries.

  • Monthly sales tax reconciliations.

  • Product Code alignment with Avalara Code maintenance.

  • Filing of monthly sales/use tax returns.

  • SOS/Business License renewals.

  • SOS registrations, new Business License applications.

  • Property Tax compliance.

  • Work with outside tax service providers located around the globe in varying time zones.

  • Approve all non-US transaction tax returns.

  • Other special projects as they arise.

  • Is this You?

  • 12+ years of experience working with the corporate indirect tax department.

  • BS in Accounting or Finance.

  • Working knowledge of Avalara or similar transaction tax software.

  • Demonstrated technical strength and knowledge related to indirect tax and accounting.

  • Self-starter with strong accounting, analytical, creative problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Ability to recognize, understand, and analyze complex issues.

  • Strong social skills and ability to communicate effectively with other departments.

  • Must be well-organized, hands-on, and detail-oriented.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficient computer skills including strong working knowledge of Excel and Netsuite/Oracle systems.

  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
