Title: IT Engineer

Reports To: Director, Corp IT PMO

The Job

The IT Engineer will provide onsite technical support to the corporate team and own basic network engineering responsibilities. This position will build and document processes and programs with security in mind. They will be responsible for helping internal users manage accounts, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, and show empathy and understanding along the way. They will become the subject matter expert on third-party software we integrate into our workflow, looking for improvements in process and functionality. This individual will also support system installation, define, document, and implement system standards. Under the guidance and direction of the networking engineering team, they will secure network systems by setting up and applying policies, support network and cabling.

Responsibilities

  • Support help desk and ensure all tickets are completed in a timely manner.
  • Efficient resolution of issues by maintaining an accurate database and documenting complex technical issues concisely for repair teams.
  • Escalate well documented issues appropriately.
  • Improve department processes and technologies through the investigation and identification of the root cause of technical problems.
  • Work across multiple departments to ensure IT support is provided.
  • Partner with People Operations to onboard all new hires with IT related functions.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and desktop applications.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software, hardware, and other network and system problems.
  • Manage and monitor wireless networks that support video, data, voice and more.
  • Carry out the configuration of routing and switching equipment.
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/teammates and leaders across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical support role required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Windows, Mac, and Linux required.
  • Outlook 365 and Active Directory administration required.
  • Experience with SSO (Okta) administration required.
  • Prior experience managing wireless networks and equipment required.
  • Working knowledge of network cabling infrastructure (Copper/RJ45, singlemode/multimode fiber optic cabling) required.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills required.
  • Network certifications preferred.
  • Work Environment

    This position is based in Austin, TX. It requires work with Mac, PC, and Linux laptops, smartphones, tablets, and cabling.

    Physical Demands Able to meet physical requirements of the job, such as working on ladders, running cables, bending, reaching, standing for long periods of time, and working in both office and data center environments.

    Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. General hours and work days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
