Generalist, People Ops

Reports To VP, People Ops

The Job

The Generalist will run the daily functions of the People Ops department including hiring and interviewing staff, owning the payroll process, manage leaves, and enforce company policies and best practices. The Generalist will provide People Ops support in the data center to ensure efficient operation and guide data center leadership through employee relations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the recruiting process at data centers.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Update and maintain time and attendance for hourly and temporary employees.
  • Performs required tasks to administer and execute People Ops programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the People Ops Manager.
  • Own and manage the payroll process.
  • Submits weekly payroll to temp agencies.
  • Validate and audit all employee changes from the People Ops team.
  • Ensure correct wage reporting and tax withholding of equity compensation.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • 5+ years in the Human Resources field.
  • 2-3 years overseeing and processing payroll.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills.
  • Superior interpersonal, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite; Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Slack.
  • Experience with Greenhouse, TriNet, Fidelity preferred.
  • Track record of successfully executing training and developmental programs.
  • Knowledge of Worker's Compensation laws preferred.
  • A self-starter able to manage multiple projects under pressure and independently.
  • Excellent judgment, integrity, dependability, collegiality, demonstrated team skills and strong work ethic.

    This role is based in Calvert City, KY Data Center or Denton, TX Data Center.

    Travel

    30% travel to other data centers

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office and data center environment. This role routinely uses standard office and industrial equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, smartphones, ladders, forklifts, and scissor lifts.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands; and lift up to 20 pounds.

    Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time, onsite position. General hours and days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. some nights and weekends may be required.
