Job Description:

DataRobot is a leading AI platform that automates the end-to-end process of preparing data, building and deploying machine learning models for data scientists. It allows businesses to quickly leverage their data to gain insights and make better decisions. We are seeking a talented Principal Product Designer to help us build the future of AI development tools.

This is an exciting role and a chance to join the company at a pivotal time. We are a well-funded late-stage startup that is scaling rapidly with an extensive market opportunity in sight. Our product is currently used by a third of the Fortune 50, and our customers' use cases span from anticipating user behavior at the world's largest banks, to accelerating visual inspection of equipment at large manufacturers. You will work with a talented team within DataRobot that is developing new AI workflows and who wants to translate customers' needs into better tools. The ideal candidate has knowledge of AI/ML and previous experience designing in an enterprise software environment.

What you will be doing
  • Leading design through the entire product lifecycle, collaborating closely with other designers, engineers, and PMs to create new product features and workflows. This includes managing technical constraints and making informed, balanced tradeoffs.
  • Influencing a market leading product. Design has a seat at the table in DataRobot, this is an opportunity to add significant impact. You have a solid understanding of what makes a great product and are comfortable collaborating with peers in PM and engineering to define our strategy.
  • Applying user-centric design techniques to tackle big problems, you have experience in planning and conducting design research interviews and workshops, as well as synthesizing the results.
  • Employing systems thinking to simplify complexity and move from ambiguity to clarity. You have experience leading cross-functional workshops to accomplish this.
  • Elevating the team. You're a leader for design craft and quality. You are passionate about creating the best possible user experience while constantly learning and bringing fresh ideas to the team.
  • Mentoring other designers to help them develop their skills and progress in their careers.
  • Communicating your design process and decision-making rationale articulately. This is especially important since we are a remote-first company.
  • Requirements
  • 7+ years experience as a product (UX or interaction) designer in enterprise software.
  • Proficient in standard design tools.
  • Understanding of AI/ML technologies and workflows.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates your process and impact of your work (non- public facing is fine, we understand the limitations).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ideal candidate
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup or scaleup environment.
  • Experience designing highly technical and B2B software products.
  • Experience in working with remote development teams.
  • Experience managing other designers.
  • Location
  • While we work primarily remotely, candidates must be within commuting distance to one of our travel hubs in Dublin (IRL), Boston, NYC, Seattle or San Francisco.
  • Is this You?

    What you get in return:

  • We move fast and reward hard work. We expect results, and we love doing the work we're passionate about.
  • Our employees have a voice in what we do! We continually challenge and support each other to find better, more robust solutions for customers and partners. After all, it's our customers that make us tick.
