We are looking for a Program Manager to support the Organisational Technology (Org Tech) Portfolio, which sits inside the Technological Infrastructure (TI) organisation at Google DeepMind. Org Tech's mission is to deliver operational and cultural excellence through tech solutions, unlocking faster research and organisational progress towards the company mission.

About Us

The goal of the Org Tech team is to drive technical solutions in partnership with teams across Google DeepMind to create the organisational culture & operational efficacies necessary to achieve our mission. These solutions can be custom-built software systems, third-party tools, data pipelines, dashboards, process changes, or usually a combination of these.

Our team is part of Google DeepMind's Technological Infrastructure team, whose goal is to make all of Google DeepMind fast and effective through products, tools, libraries, frameworks, services, and to co-deliver key technical innovations to unlock AGI. This is a large community of Software Engineerss and other technical roles who work with other teams across the company to provide and advance our pioneering technological infrastructure.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a mixture of program and product facing work!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with stakeholders to understand challenges across a variety of spaces including; how we coordinate research, operational tooling (performance / promotion / hiring), and security
  • Work with engineers to design solutions to problems and prioritising work with engineering teams
  • Work with engineering leads to craft project-level governance, decision- making and team culture
  • Communicating challenges, risks and progress to stakeholders and soloutining where possible
  • Handling relationships with third party vendors
  • Maintaining partnerships with internal teams (Talent Acquisition as an example)
  • Consulting on the costs/risks and benefits of onboarding a 3rd party tool vs building a first party tool
  • About you

    In order to set you up for success as a Program Manager at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and expertise in project/program management with the skill to navigate through ambiguity and adjust and adapt plans and strategies as project conditions change
  • Experience supporting teams to deliver projects
  • Experience in solving complex challenges, implementing scalable and balanced solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in utilising mentor techniques to support individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds in a high performing environment
  • Strong communication skills, ability to develop meaningful relationships with key stakeholders and leverage these to influence action and outcomes
  • Experience supporting teams in fast-paced and constantly changing environments, acting as a sounding board as individuals go through the change cycle and supporting during challenging times
  • You are passionate about solving AGI, proactive about learning and acquiring knowledge to improve your domain knowledge
  • Knowledge and familiarity with technical topics including tool setup / management / administration, data infrastructure & design, technical process design
