Title Purchasing Manager

Reports To VP, Supply Chain

The Job

We're looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager responsible for procuring goods and services for resale or company use. They seek the best available quality for the lowest price. They evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, work with Accounts Payable, and review product quality. Negotiation is a dynamic, interactive process of a Purchasing Manager. Collate purchase orders and purchase requisitions in order-to-order materials, goods, and supplies. A Purchasing Manager deals with non-supplied, under orders, over orders and damaged goods. Ensure that any invoices are sent to accounts for payment. Produce and maintain all reports. Conduct an internal needs analysis.

As a member of the Supply Chain Team, you will act as a strong business partner for all sourcing and procurement needs and goals for multiple business units within Core. You will participate in project planning meetings, sourcing requirement gathering efforts, as well as vendor relationship management. Successful candidates for this role will exhibit a strong customer orientation while owning and delivering on all facets of world class purchasing delivery and support. This role demands a thorough understanding of Procure-to-Pay (P2P), with a strong acumen for ERP workflows, internal financial controls, and sense of teamwork and tenacity.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price.
  • Obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items
  • Obtain approval from requisitioning department.
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers, monitoring, tracking, and expediting orders.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies, and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Conduct assessment of the supplier's market.
  • Collect supplier information.
  • Assist in inventory control.
  • Set up the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  • Prepare cost estimates and managing budgets.
  • Develop a sourcing/outsourcing strategy.
  • Implement the sourcing strategy.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and select the winning bid.
  • Manage supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines etc.
  • Request Safety Data Sheets for items ordered.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • Degree in business administration or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience working as a buyer or purchasing agent.
  • 4+ years purchasing management experience.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Excellent written, verbal, active listening, and communication skills.
  • Time management.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships.
  • Communicative and active listener.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, coding, and invoice approval.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, Excel and purchasing software.

  • Work Environment

    This job operates in a professional office and warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, and smartphones.

    Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time, Monday – Friday position. You may be expected to work some weekends and after hours as work requires.
